* ATTENTION, change of location: Disseny Hub Barcelona!
The Disseny Hub Barcelona will be the location for the first Tastadisseny. Gastronomy & Design Festival, a unique event that will allow us to learn about synergies between design and gastronomy, two worlds that are very closed related and feed off of each other. Throughout the day, those attending will be able to enjoy tasting sessions in the market with Niji o La Madre de Miren, amongst others; designers and craftsmen like Eva Kengo, Bewood, Hoji Ceramics, Polvo or Objects by Medio. In addition, Tastadisseny will include workshops, performances and other activities on the reuse of food and new trends in this field such as the installation “Imperfecta belleza” by Elsa Yranzo or the “Bicibatedora” by the Plataforma Aprofitem els Aliments.
In this environment, the RR201 installation, created by Andreu Carulla for Celler de Can Roca, is an ambitious project to achieve a waste free restaurant through the use of design. Andreu Carulla uses expanded polystyrene that is notoriously difficult to recycle for it to be made into furniture. The installation explains the creation process and the boxes are shown just as they are used by the restaurant, the bag of peeled material, the mould and finally the end product.
