Exhibition of the winning projects of the contest “Il Design. Un viaggio tra Italia e Spagna” organized by the Italian Embassy in Madrid as part of the ITmakES initiative.
The three winning projects that have been exhibited at the Università degli Studi di Milano on the occasion of the Fuori Salone 2019 are:
– Buffet Capa, console by Manuel García Fraile;
– Loop, kitchen furniture of Jesus Lopez de los Mozos;
– Ness, modular supports by Cristina Castillo and Patricia Lallana from IED Madrid
The project has involved institutions, information agencies, companies, professional associations of architects, designers and higher education centers, both in Italy and in Spain. The prototypes of the winning projects were made by three Italian companies: Ethimo, Ghidini 1961 and Officine Tamborrino.
The contest has been organized in collaboration with COAM (Colegio Oficial de Arquitectos de Madrid), DIMAD (Association of designers in Madrid) and the Italian magazine INTERNI. The jury was formed by the Italian Ambassador Stefano Sannino, Gilda Bojardi (Chief Editor of Interni magazine), Marva Griffin (founder and curator of the Satellite Exhibition), Maria Güell (lighting designer and curator of the Llum Bcn Festival), Luciano Galimberti (President of ADI – Compasso d’oro), Carlos Lahoz (Vice President of COAM), Mariano Martín (Secretary of DIMAD).
The installation, curated by the architect Davide Valoppi of Noarc studio, is inspired by the theme of the trip. The three main structures, one for each winning project, are characterized by the inclusion of large diameter red balloons that refer to the romantic image of hot air balloon trips. The red color unites the flags of Italy and Spain. In the three smaller structures, near the columns, are located the drawings and representations of the eight projects that received a special mention from the jury.
On June 17th there will be a special event with an Italian aperitif organized by the Consulate General of Italy in Barcelona with the presence of Benedetta Tagliabue (President of the Fundació Enric Miralles), Patrizia Catalano (Interni Magazine) and Maria Güell (curator of the Llum Bcn Festival and jury of the contest).
