How to Protect your Design Against Copies


A round table with the participation of lawyers specializing in intellectual property law and intellectual property attorneys addressing issues relating to how designers can protect their designs in order to avoid copycats in the market. The topics to be discussed include the legal protection of industrial design in Spain and the European Union, registration and non-registrable protection, special mention to the unregistered Community design, legal requirements for protection, registration procedure, duration and renewal of the registration, designs created in the framework of an employment or service relationship, exclusive and moral rights of the designer, types of designs according to the territorial scope of the protection: Spanish, Community and International, protection of the design under Trademarks Law, with special mention to the three-dimensional trademark.
