Laura Lee, FAIA, Hon FRAIA, is an architect and Professor of Architecture at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh (USA), where she served as Head from 2004-2008. Lee is an international leading voice for integrated design education, practice and research. Her work focuses on the development and implementation of integrated design strategies and collaborative programs between the academy, government, industry and the profession.
Oscar Peña’s main function at Philips Design Lighting is Global Creative Director, Product and User Experience Design. Peña’s career has spanned a number of continents and design disciplines before joining Philips Design in 1987. Since then he has been involved in the design of numerous consumer products, including televisions, mobile phones, digital cameras, bank teller machines and kitchen appliances. He also headed the Philips Design Milan office.
Lorna Ross has 19 years' experience working in design, design research and innovation with the past twelve years focused on health and health care. Prior to joining the Center for Innovation at Mayo Clinic as manager of the design group in 2009, Ross ran the Human Wellbeing Group at the MIT Media Lab Europe. At Mayo, Ross holds a strategic leadership position directing the discovery and implementation of transformative, user-centric care models for the institution.
Jan Willem Sieburgh is an entrepreneur, independent consultant and coach. His work can best be described as "creative solutions for the cultural industry" focussing on business model innovation, concepts for public engagement and branding. From 2002 until 2010 he was the managing director of the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam. Before joining the Rijksmuseum, Sieburgh has worked in the advertising industry for 20 years.
At his 18 years old, Nandu Jubany joined Urbasol, the family restaurant as head chef. In autumn of 1995, Jubany and his wife, Anna Orte, opened the doors of Can Jubany, a restaurant that three years later received a Michelin star Award and currently has 3 “soles” in the Repsol Guide. In 2012, Jubany participated in Singapore, together with the design studio lagranja, in the workshop "What 's Cooking?" with product designers.
Andy Goodman is a pragmatic creative, shaping his work around a deep understanding of people, technology and markets. After a few years playing around in the Games and Interactive TV industries he fell in love with mobile, and now runs the Madrid studio of Fjord, a leading Service Design agency. Here he helps some of the worlds biggest brands transform their businesses through design thinking. He joined Fjord in London in early 2008 where he was Director of Service Design.
Chris Sherwin has 15 years experience in the sustainability field, specialising in linking environmental and social responsibility with innovation, product and packaging design and marketing. He currently heads up sustainability at global design and innovation consultancy Seymoupowell. Sherwin has consulting experience with a number of leading businesses and brands including Unilever, P&G, Akzo Nobel, Cadbury, PepsiCo to name just a few.
Mark Woodman CMG, a dynamic designer, writer and speaker, has contributed to the pages of magazines and books, the airwaves of TV and radio and the stages of exhibitions around the globe. The world of color has brought him to Global Color Research, an international trend and design group specializing in consultancy and publishing MIX trends book and MIX magazine. Besides, Woodman serves as President of the Color Marketing Group, the premier organization for color direction.
Andreu Balius is a type designer based in Barcelona (Spain). He runs his own studio and leads Typerepublic type foundry. He designs retail and custom typefaces and has been awarded with several Excellence in Type Design by the Type Directors Club for his type design work. He is a member of AGI (Alliance Graphique Internationale) and ATypI (Association Typographique Internationale). He also teaches at Pompeu Fabra University (Barcelona) and loves travelling and riding on his mountain bike.
After studying industrial design in Delft and Barcelona, Gerrit Jan Veldman (Leicester, 1983) joined Luki Huber in his product design studio in Barcelona in 2008. Next to designing visibly innovative consumer products, they created Manual Thinking, a tool for the facilitation of creative and organizational processes within teams.
Baba au Rhum is the creative studio of Pepi de Boissieu and Ana Dominguez in which food is the central axis. Baba au Rhum uses design and art to create made-to-measure projects, situations and events tailored around the needs of each individual client. We like to believe that food-centred actions can help people relate to each other, question their reality, and also simply get in good spirits marveling at the unexpected while eating or drinking. Something that is finally a part of our daily lives.
Brothers Juan (1978) and Alejandro (1981) were born in Binéfar, Huesca, Spain. As children, they were already a creative couple and spent their time drawing comics, building vehicles for their toys and making home movies with a domestic camcorder. In 2006 they founded the studio Brosmind and settled in Barcelona where they work as illustrators and artists. His style is fresh and optimistic and always combines fantasy and humor.
I am an industrial designer. Since the end of the 90’s I work designing objects, furniture, interiors (very few), some events and other things difficult to describe. These projects are done for both companies and institutions, foundations, exhibition spaces and NGOs. If something in common they all may have (apart from their usually small scale) better tell someone else.
Bea Barco has a Biology degree and has specialized in science communication. She works as an editor for Redes, a TV show from the Spanish Television, since 2000 and contributes as a freelance scriptwriter in different audiovisual project, and radio and written media. She lectures in design school Elisava on perception, creativity and the brain and is a consultant for companies in the sphere of creative production.

The BCN Design Week community is formed, on the one hand, by the support institutions and organizations, the sponsors and the collaborators; the BDW 2.0 Ambassadors – people and organizations which connect us to the environment 2.0 and act as speakers on the social networks – and by the companies, shops, establishments and professionals of the city who participate by organizing parallel activities within the BCN Design Week OFF programme.
