Xavier Badia is currently the head of the R&D department at Alstom Transporte for Spain and Portugal, where he manages three technological centres which include design and innovation activities for rolling stock, maintenance, signage, and key-in-hand projects, as well as representation of design and style activities in the centre of Barcelona.

With more than 10 years of experience in the transport sector (eight in the railway sector and two in automobiles), he has given technical direction for activities and projects among which the following should be mentioned:

Head of Engineering at the Alstom Transporte factory in Santa Perpetua de Mogoda (Barcelona) and management of the interior design subsystem for passenger trains all over the world, such as projects for the Underground in London (Jubilee Line), Diesel Units for Dublin and the Shanghai Metro.
