Josep Matarín
Head of the Quality Department for IMC Toys, Terrassa

Josep Matarín

Although trained in the chemical sector, Josep Matarín entered the world of toys fifteen years ago when he joined the company IMC TOYS, SA.

The company is small but shows an entrepreneurial spirit. In the last ten years it has gone from a distributing firm with 20 employees to a toy creation and development company with a market share in 45 countries, offices in Hong Kong and mainland China, affiliates in six countries and the support and drive of more than 200 collaborators.

The fact that Matarín participated in the growth of the company has enabled him to know and participate in many areas that would be difficult to understand in more established and less flexible firms. Having been involved in many tasks not necessarily belonging to the Quality Department in a typical company, he has been able to grow professionally and gain a wider vision of the ensemble that makes up an organisation. His years of experience as head of post-sales services also contributed to his knowledge of IMC TOYS’ clients and distribution channels, as well as what their clients want and what a product requires once it arrives on the market.

While his current duties focus on the development of new projects and products during the period of their creation and launch onto the market, he has not stopped working in post-sales or on other issues such as labour risk prevention. This allows for direct contact and communication with the market and IMC TOYS’ collaborators in every area that makes up an organisation which is constantly increasing in scope. The elements that differentiate one company from another can be as simple as knowing how to watch and listen to the market and the needs it generates. Taking care of these needs in advance is the lasting objective of any organisation, and adapting to them is an indispensable requirement for maintenance and growth.
