Àngel Panyella
Manager, El Tinter, Barcelona

The founder of El Tinter in 1981 and its manager since 1994, Panyella has undertaken different activities in the graphic, publishing and business worlds. He has worked as a consultant for SMEs and cooperatives, especially with regard to the implementation of quality and environmental systems, and also ISO 14000 and EMAS certification for Catalan companies. He participated in the creation of ECOS publishing house, which specialises in the themes of social and solidarity-based economics.

He was a founder and is currently member of the Steering Board of the Club EMAS association, which groups together those companies that have EMAS certification in Catalonia. At El Tinter, in 2000, he implemented an environmental management system al 2000, which became the first publication certified with ISO 14001 and EMAS in Catalonia.

In 2007 it received Quality Management Standard ISO 9001, and in 2008 it was recognised as the first design study to be certified in ecodesign according to the UNE 150301 standard. In 2007, the Government of Catalonia awarded El Tinter the 2007 Environmental Design for Recycling prize. Panyella, the rest of the team at El Tinter and other collaborators are co-authors of the article “Arts Gràfiques i Sostenibilitat” which appeared in EcoConcern’s Papers de sostenibilitat, No. 21, and in which the eco-criteria of design for graphic arts are explained.
